1945 Virginian RW $1000 Bond Certificate. Handsome scripophily railroad document with vignette of steam locomotive in circle with allegorical males. Financed by Henry Rogers (a partner with Rockefeller in Standard Oil), the Virginian Railway Company was formed in 1907 to combine the Deepwater Railway in West Virginia and the Tidewater Railway in Virginia into a single interstate railroad, principally to carry coal from West Virginia to a shipping terminal in Hampton Roads. VF+ condition with punch cancel holes at bottom of bond (bond is large so scan does not include borders of bond) Partial sheet of coupons attached on right side of bond.
