1879 Shenandoah Valley RR $1000/200 pounds Bond Certificate. Large attractive scripophily document with vignette of steam engine pulling train around curve. The Shenandoah Valley RR was completed in 1882, serving the Shenandoah Valley from Hagerstown, Maryland through the West Virginia panhandle into Virginia to Roanoke, Virginia where it connected with the Norfolk and Western Railway. In 1890, it went into bankruptcy and was reorganized as the Shenandoah Valley Railway. It became part of Norfolk & Western RR in 1890.
