1852 Rutland & Washington RR bond signed by Erastus Corning. Early Vermont and New York railraod scripophily document with attractive vignette of steam locomotive pulling passenger train under bridge. This bond is signed by Erastus Corning on reverse as trustee. Erastus Corning (1794-1872) was a famous railroader and politician. He was the first president of the New York Central line, and served as a state senator in New York as well as a Representative in US Congress (during the Civil War). Corning, New York named in his honor. Certificate is in VF condition with trimmed borders on top and sides. Coupons at bottom, each with a punch cancel.
