Old Dominion Mining Co of Nevada Bond 1868

1868 Old Dominion Mining Co of Nevada Bond Certificate. Very scarce and early Nevada mining bond. Bonds were seldom used to finance mining development given the speculative nature of mining enterprises, and the unlikelihood of being able to make regular interest payments let alone provide the return of principal. The Old Dominion Mining Co of Nevada mine was located in the Hot Creek district of Nye County. It had some early success, but was inactive after 1870. It does not appear that the bond made any interest payments. Nice vignette of miners in underground cavern on this neat scripophily mining document. Six coupons attached at bottom of bond. VF+ condition.
