Housatonic RR Bond 1882

Unissued 1882 Housatonic RR $1000 Bond Certificate. Very attractive railroad scripophily document with vignettes of steam trains on bridge and leaving town station. The Housatonic Railroad was chartered in 1836 to build a line from Bridgeport, Connecticut north to the Massachusetts state line, along the Housatonic River valley. The Housatonic bought several other lines in the mid 1800s. In 1892, the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad leased the Housatonic lines. EF condition.
